A Case For Loungerie: Cozy Intimates Worth Sharing
By Kindra Moné
Long before a nationwide quarantine caused us to prioritize comfort above all, I began to notice a generation of women that no longer cared to be one monolithic version of a bombshell. Brands like Lively, Aerie by American Eagle, and Third Love began to cater to a woman that embraced her body beyond super model standards, and a new category has arrived. Somewhere between lingerie and loungewear, we’re seeing comfortable intimates designed to be both flaunted and cozy. Let’s call it “loungerie”.
As body positivity increased, Victoria’s Secret lost its hold on today’s consumer, closing a quarter of it’s stores in the U.S and Canada. There’s always room for sex appeal, but for many women today, sexy doesn’t always look like trying to appear two cup sizes larger and two dress sizes smaller. As someone who truly loves to put thought and care into what I wear at home, here is a case for loungerie featuring three brands I’m currently living in: Richer Poorer, ARQ and Skims.
