Episode 4: Africa is Next & My Beauty Closet Is Black

In this Tea & Biscuits episode (more style, less soul) Kindra Moné briefly offers advice on rest and shares her black-owned beauty favorites.

Fashion news includes: the rise of the African luxury e-commerce market, Baby Phat enters the beauty sphere, and Victoria's Secret makes changes in response to a downward spiral.

Black owned beauty favorites include:

KNC Beauty

Beauty Strike

Base Butter

Shea Moisture

NaturAll Club

Now this episode is just tea & biscuits. That means it’s a more news, style and beauty conversation rather than the more in depth soul conversations that we have. But I’m all about inspiration at my core, so I gotta give you a biscuit! And if you’re wondering why you’re having biscuits with your tea, child I am from South Carolina and you are being served SWEET tea. You can get your scones at the next spot lol.

So these days, I’m doing my best to stay focused while also staying inspired and working hard while getting enough rest and spending time with my friends and trying to make time to call my family. It’s all a lot. Everyone is in a state of transition right now, and while many of us have pivoted in our careers. A lot of people are trying to figure out where they’re going to work, or just how they’re going to live. It’s really a time of the unknown and none of us really know where things are headed. If you have any ounce of control freak in you, you’ve been slapped in the face with the reality that you actually control nothing.

If you’re like me, then you live in a place of constant tension between hustle and rest. Trusting God, and freaking out. Trying to plan everything to a tee and relinquishing control. It all comes down to trusting that’s what is for you is for you and enjoying the journey along the way. This speaks a little bit to the art of contentment that we spoke about in episode 3, but I think this is even a bit more practical than that. We have to hustle enough to make the most out of our opportunities and use our talents and abilities to our full potential, but we have to rest knowing and trusting that what is for you, is for you.
